[Now that's a new concept he's not used to;. Fake idols, yes, other gods, yes, but...a place? An abyss? He boggles at the other, staring over his shoulder into the vastness of space.]
[A representative of a void, both literal and metaphorical...]
[His attention snaps back to the Outside at the last statement, and he nods.]
Er, yes, I do. The god who created and crafted me, humanity and the universe... serve Him in all things.
Yes, there are many. Hundreds of brothers and sisters, all working for Him...we know nothing else, and we were born for nothing else.
[He smiles, nodding.]
Yes, we do. Some of my brethren, they live among the humans, guiding them. Others manage the stars and days and time. I, well, I eliminate evil, wherever it lurks. Everyone is important in their own respect!
We have no need for that here. All things, stars and elements have settled into their own patterns, and as it turns out, humans like to hunt down their understanding of evil whereever they find it, as well.
[That last bit might have a sarcastic note. Possibly. A little.]
But is this place not somewhere near Earth? How can it not work by similar principles? Or does it...does it only exist in my dreams?
[He shakes his head. This all makes his mind spin.]
Yes, but...humans are fallible. They need guidance, especially with the forces of evil who seek to pull them away at every turn. That is why my role is important.
But if my Lord created all that exists, then...are you saying that He didn't create you or this Void of yours, as well?
[He frowns, feeling suddenly uncomfortable. This is...not something he can simply logic away with the reason he knows. That smile is not helping.]
I...well, yes and no. The one who brought evil into this world was an archangel by the name of Lucifer. He Fell, as in....he was banished from Heaven, and he took it upon himself to lead humanity astray. His deeds created the dark creatures known as demons, who serve him much like we angels serve the Lord.
There are neither angels nor demons here. No path, and nothing for people to be led astray from. Even the great cult trying to instill morals in the population speaks nothing of a creating lord. If the one you serve truly had created this place as well, would he leave it all with none of you to watch over it?
Yes and no. I was human once. About fourthousand years ago, living in a world that was and still remains untroubled by your kind or your enemies. But the Void needed someone to be Its voice, and I gave myself to it. So I became what I am now.

[The Outsider gestures at the vast abyss beyond him.]
It isn't possible for the Void to interact with mortal beings without them being destroyed by it. And that is why I exist.
[And he crosses his arms, forges on. He's not here to talk about himself.]
So you say you serve a someone.

[But there are things to consider, here. He's never thought of creation as a planned thing, never even imagined it.]
So he made all, and with some kind of purpose in mind.
[... How strange.]

[It's a struggle to wrap his mind around this, don't think you're the only one confused, Outsider.]
Yes! Yes, He did. And He created me and my brethren, so we could help and serve Him in our duties.

[Still getting used to the word.]
Do you all have different tasks?
[Since that must be a pretty big and elaborate plan.]

[Besides, how many omnipotent creative entities can exist near each other? Any more than one seems like a critical mass.]
Forces of evil? [There's a wry smile.]
Did your lord create them as well?

[Because that wouldn't line up, would it?]
no subject
[He taps his foot against the stone beneath him, frown ever present on his face.]
It's...concerning. Impossible, really! And yet, you persist and exist as if t doesn't concern you.
Sir, did this Void create you, then?
